Change impact tracking

Change impact tracking is placing each dated change, such as a content update, a technical fix or a PR campaign, on the same timeline as AI visibility metrics, and comparing the period before each change with the period after it.

Teams ship many changes in a month. Without a dated record, nobody can say later which one came before a rise or a fall in visibility.

Change impact tracking pins each change to a date and reads the metrics on either side of it. A common comparison is the week before a change against a full week after it.

It shows what moved around a change, not why. A metric that rises after a change is consistent with the change working, but it is not proof the change caused it.

Changes made close together blur the result, because their before and after windows overlap. Shipping one change at a time keeps each one readable.

Example

What it looks like in practice.

A brand publishes a new comparison page on a Monday and starts a PR campaign that Thursday. Because the two windows overlap, a rise in citations the following week cannot be credited to either change alone.

How Zicy measures it.

Zicy's Impact Tracker puts each change on the same chart as Share of Voice, Citation Coverage, Brand Mention Coverage and Sentiment, flags overlapping changes, and labels results as change that coincided, not proven cause. See Impact Tracker.

FAQ

Questions about Change impact tracking.

What is change impact tracking?

Change impact tracking is placing each dated change, such as a content update, a technical fix or a PR campaign, on the same timeline as AI visibility metrics, and comparing the period before each change with the period after it.

Does it prove a change worked?

No. It shows what moved around a change, not why. Treat a result as a lead worth checking, not a verdict.

How long should you wait before reading a result?

At least a full week after the change. A partial week is not a fair comparison with the week before.
