Welcome to Zicy (“Zicy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We provide an AI-powered growth consultant and a suite of AI SEO/AEO/GEO tools (the “Service”) through our website, zicy.com (the “Site”).  We also provide a Chrome browser extension (the “Extension”).

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our Site and use our Service, including when you sign up for our waitlist. We are committed to transparency and protecting your privacy. Our core values of empathy, trust, and accountability guide how we handle your data.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in a few different ways to provide and improve our Service.

a) Information You Provide Directly to Us

  • Waitlist and Account Information: When you join our waitlist or create an account, we collect personal information such as your name, email address, company name, and website URL.
  • Communications: If you contact us directly for support or inquiries, we may receive additional information about you, such as the contents of your message and any other information you choose to provide.
  • Payment Information: When you subscribe to a paid plan (once available), we will collect payment and billing information. Please note that we use third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe, PayPal) to handle these transactions, and we do not store your credit card details on our servers.

b) Information We Collect to Provide the Service (Service Data)

To provide our AI-powered audits and recommendations, you may connect your website or third-party accounts to our Service. This may include:

  • Website Data: We analyze the content, structure, schema, and technical details of the website(s) you connect to Zicy to perform audits and provide recommendations. This includes text, images, metadata, and code.
  • Third-Party Analytics and Console Data: With your authorization, we may access data from services like Google Search Console or Google Analytics. This data is used solely to provide and improve our diagnostic and reporting features. We only access the data necessary to perform the requested Service.

We treat your Service Data as confidential. We do not own your website data, and we will not use it for any purpose other than providing, maintaining, and improving the Zicy Service for you.

We use your Service Data solely to provide the requested functionality of the Service. We do not use your website data or submitted content to train foundation AI models.

References to third-party integrations such as Google Search Console or Google Analytics apply only to optional or future Site features and are not used by the Chrome Extension.

c) Information We Collect Automatically

  • Usage Data: When you use our Site and Service, we automatically collect information about your device and your interaction with our Service. This may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, the dates and times of your visits, and the features you use.
  • Cookies and Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to track activity on our Service and hold certain information. Cookies are files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Service.
  • The Chrome Extension does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.

d) Chrome Extension Data Collection

When you use the Zicy Chrome browser extension (the “Extension”) and explicitly request an analysis, we collect limited information solely to provide the requested functionality.

  • When an analysis is initiated, we may collect the following information:
    • Approximate Location: Country-level location derived from your browser’s reported timezone (not from IP geolocation). We do not perform IP address lookups, and we do not store or retain your IP address. This approximate country is used to tailor localized recommendations.
    • Page Data: The URL, HTML content, a Markdown extraction of the main content area, page metadata, and any structured-data (schema.org) snippets already present on the specific pages you choose to analyze. This information is used exclusively to generate AI Readiness Audits and schema markup recommendations.
    • Session Identifiers: Anonymous, randomly generated identifiers used to maintain your session. These identifiers are not linked to your personal identity.
    • Anonymous Install Identifier: A randomly generated, anonymous identifier is stored locally in your browser’s extension storage and transmitted with audit and schema requests to support rate limiting, caching, and service quality. This identifier contains no personal information and is not linked to your identity, email address, or any user account.
    • Chat Messages: Messages you submit to the AI assistant within the Extension to receive explanations and recommendations. Each chat request also includes a static traffic-source tag (the literal value “extension”) so our backend can distinguish Extension traffic from other Zicy surfaces. This tag is identical for every user and is not a device or user identifier. These messages are transmitted securely to our servers (including chatapi.zicy.com) in order to generate AI responses.
  • The information collected through the Extension is used solely to:
    • Generate AI citation and readiness scores.
    • Provide structured data (schema) recommendations.
    • Power the AI chat assistant.
  • Local Storage
    The Extension stores limited data locally on your device using browser storage (e.g., language preferences, audit cache, chat cache, and session identifiers). This data remains on your device and is not transmitted unless required to process a user-initiated request.
  • Data Transmission
    All Extension data is transmitted securely via HTTPS to Zicy servers, including api.zicy.com and chatapi.zicy.com.
  • All outbound requests also include a static User-Agent header identifying the product name and public Extension version (for example, ZicyExtension/2.9.0). This header helps our servers diagnose version-specific issues and does not contain any device, browser, operating system, or user identifier.
  • The Zicy Chrome Extension does not:
    • Track your browsing history.
    • Collect data from pages you do not choose to analyze.
    • Share Extension data with third parties.
    • Store page content after the requested analysis is complete.
  • Extension Open Behavior
    When you open the Extension’s popup or side panel, the Extension performs two small background requests to our servers (chatapi.zicy.com): a health check (no payload) to confirm service availability, and an accessibility pre-check that transmits only the URL of your currently active tab (no page content, no HTML, no identifiers) so we can display an early warning when the page may block AI crawlers. No data is collected from pages you have not chosen to analyze, and no page content is transmitted during this pre-check.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for various purposes, aligned with our promise to provide growth you can trust:

  • To Provide and Maintain the Service: To operate the Zicy platform, perform audits, generate reports, and deliver our “AI-powered growth consultant” features.
  • To Improve and Personalize the Service: To understand how our users interact with Zicy and use that knowledge to develop new features and enhance our AI models.
  • To Communicate With You: To send you updates about our waitlist, service-related announcements, security alerts, and support messages. We may also send you marketing communications, which you can opt-out of at any time.
  • For Security and Fraud Prevention: To protect the integrity of our Service, our platform, and our users.
  • To Comply with Legal Obligations: To meet legal requirements and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

We do not use your data, including website data or chat messages, to train foundation AI models.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We may share information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud), payment processing, and email communication. These providers are contractually obligated to safeguard your data and only use it for the purposes we specify.
  • Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our Site of any change in ownership.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend our rights or property, or protect the personal safety of users or the public.
  • AI Processing and Sub-Processors: To provide AI-powered functionality, certain data (including page content and chat messages) may be processed by third-party AI service providers. These providers may include OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. These providers process data solely to generate responses and do not use it for their own independent purposes, subject to their policies.]

5. Data Security

We implement a variety of security measures designed to protect the security of your personal information. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Data Retention: We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Chat messages are retained for up to 30 days and then deleted. Page content is not stored after analysis is complete.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date at the top. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell user data.
  • We do not use your data for personalized advertising.
  • We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending decisions.
